Nick attended the first marathon as a visitor, but quickly became involved after the second marathon. He has been with the board of directors since it was formed in September 2011.

Marathon Reflections is a blog series for the month of June to celebrate the fact that Sandbox Gaming is gearing up for its tenth marathon ever (July 3-6, 2015). SBG’s board members, who dedicate countless hours each week to the organization and serve as the leaders of the group, reflect on the previous marathons and we Sandbox Gaming is now.

This upcoming charity marathon marks an important achievement for Sandbox Gaming, which will be our 10th marathon in support of children’s charities. For me this is an important time to reflect on what we have achieved and our most memorable marathon moments.

For me, the thing that sticks with me the most is after our first marathon in support of Easter Seals NL. We were able to meet with the children we were helping and share in their joy, and to see the smiles on everyone’s face when they gave us a personal thank you, it really did warm my heart.

Nick and Daniel Craig make great cooking partners.

Of course, it isn’t just a time to look to the past, we have a bright and exciting future ahead of us, and I for one am looking forward to this marathon, so that we can see our dedicated new volunteers in action helping to make a difference. As well, I’m looking forward to making brunch, and watching out for all the antics of our unofficial marathon mascot – Cardboard Daniel Craig.

All in all, this marathon promises to be our most exciting and successful yet. Be sure to tune in or drop by during our public hours (10 AM – 8 PM each day) to chat, donate, or just hang out with our marathon team.
